The volunteer guides of the Basilica offer you different types of visits adjusted to the pilgrim’s preferences.
You can visit the Basilica by yourself every day between 8am and 6.45pm. As the Basilica is a place of worship, it is not possible to visit the church during the celebrations.

2. Discovery tours
The visits called « découverte » offer you the opportunity to explore the fabulous story of the Basilica, from its construction in the 19th century until now. During this visit, you will discover its walls covered with mosaics, its majestic stained-glass windows and the whole symbolism of its architecture.
Go to the desk of the guides inside the Basilica, every day (except on Sunday morning) from April to November, from 9am to 12.30pm and from 2pm to 6pm (until 4.45pm on Saturdays and Sundays). There is no charge, however donations are accepted.
3. Original tours
Discover a unique view of the entire World Heritage listed site of Lyons from the roof of the Basilica. You will first go behind the scenes, discovering the hidden places of the church: the big tribune gallery, the architects’ office, the gallery of the angels, the attic. Then you will have access to the big carillon made of 23 bells and finally you will be able to climb up to the St Michael terrace and on top of the observatory tower overlooking the city.

• from June to September: every day at 2.30pm and 4pm and from Monday to Saturday extra visit at 11am (except on 15th August and 8th September)
• in April, May and October: Wednesdays and Sundays at 2.30pm and 4pm
• in November: Wednesdays and Sundays at 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
No original tour from December to March
