On March 29, 1966, Martin Luther King came to Lyon for a conference gathering more than 5,000 people before the Labor Exchange.

For the 50th anniversary of his assassination, the City of Lyon offers, under the banner of the “Centenary of Peace”, a beautiful cultural program. On this occasion and in association with the City, Fourvière welcomed in its walls, from April 6 to May 6, 2018, the event “Martin Luther King, the King of Peace”.

Under the pen of Léopold Sédar Senghor and through the works of Alfred Manessier, lectures, readings and lithographs were held at the museum of Fourvière to pay a special homage to Martin Luther King.

The Fourvière Foundation and the Birdy Kids presented between November 11, 2017 and February 25, 2018, at the museum of Fourvière, a major street art event: Watching You.

The walls of the museum Fourvière take the colors of street art, under the brushes, rollers and aerosol bombs of internationally renowned artists.
A collective led by the Birdy Kids brings together 18 graffiti artists (from Brusk, Kalouf or Grems …) expressing their art on the theme of Lyon and Fourvière.
Their sparkling appaearance of virtuosity and creativity offered a colorful ensemble of unique and ephemeral works.

Between 18 March and 30 June 2017 the Museum of Religious Art of Fourvière hosted the exhibition: Celestial Andes, paintings and silverware, XVI-XVIII centuries. Some forty works (paintings, goldsmith’s work, feather paintings) from the Priet-Gaudibert collection were presented around three themes:
> The Virgin
> Saints
> Angels
These canvases, reflecting religious devotion, have transported the visitor to an exotic world, where the marvelous rhyme with gold and colors.

Albert Gleizes, co-inventor of Cubism, was not only a renowned painter, but also a theoretician. His life and work were guided by the will to transmit art, to make it accessible to all. His thinking is based on a return to earth and matter. At the museum Fourvière, visitors were able to discover all his art.
