Great Marian feasts

Through its history, the Basilica symbolizes the faith of the people of Lyon and represents a place of protection, recourse, prayer and conversion.

Throughout the year, the city’s various Catholic communities gather in the crypt around “their Virgin” (Virgin of Czestochowa, Virgin of Fatima, Our Lady of Gyor, Virgin of Velankani…).

But Fourvière is first and foremost a Marian sanctuary, where the three great feasts of Mary set the pace for the life of the shrine.
