Disabled people

Wheelchair access is located on either side of the basilica (the Virgin Chapel side or the esplanade one), in the Fourvière café (Pignol), the two stores, the museum and the toilets…

The western entrance doors to the basilica and the listening and dialogue area (access via the Chapelle de la Vierge) measure 80 cm.

The confessional is not accessible to wheelchairs. We advise people with reduced mobility who wish to confess, to contact the sacristy.

Today no equipment for the blind  / visually impaired  people  is available.

In the car park on the esplanade you can find two parking places for people with reduced mobility and disabled ex-servicemen.

Two additional parking places reserved for those with reduced mobility are also located in front of the bus station, at your arrival on the site.

Please contact the Welcome Pavilion to have the gate opened.

An elevator is available from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., accessible from the esplanade. It enables access to the crypt and Basilica.

An elevator is also available at the funicular exit (TCL public transport access).

6 inductive loops are available within the Basilica for the hearing-impaired people (at the entrance on the left).

A tactile model of the city of Lyon is available on the Esplanade.

Many guided tours in the Basilica and theme visits are accessible to disabled  people.

However, roof guided tours (no elevator to roofs, 345 steps) and the Rosary Gardens are not accessible to people in wheelchairs.
