Lauds and Vespers
Notre-Dame de Fourvière is not only a building which can be visited, but also a Catholic Church sanctuary for the Virgin Mary and a place for prayers, contemplation and numerous blessings.
The Lauds
The service of the Lauds is the morning prayer of praises.
They are sung:
- Every Thursday after the 7:15 a.m. service
- At a few festivals
The Vespers
The service of the Vespers is an evening liturgical prayer.
Their climax is the Hymn sung to Mary, the Magnificat.
The Vespers are celebrated:
- At 4:45 p.m. in the solemn Christian Festivals
- And on Advent, Lent and Easter Sundays
